The state Department of Health reports 22 more COVID-19 deaths Thursday, while the number of active cases and those hospitalized went down slightly.  Of the 22 new deaths, five are residents of area counties, including two in McCook County, and one each in Moody, Kingsbury, and Brookings counties.  

1360 new positive COVID-19 cases are also being reported Thursday in the state, bringing the state’s total number of positive cases to more than 51-thousand.  Just more than 13-thousand-600 cases are active at this time, and 475 people in the state are hospitalized because of the virus. 

Lake County reports another 14 positive COVID-19 cases Thursday, and 16 new recovered cases.  The county now has 141 active cases.

Active cases decreased slightly in area counties as well Thursday, compared to Wednesday.  McCook County reports 114 active COVID-19 cases, Kingsbury County has 93, and Moody County – 73 active cases.  Also, Miner County reports 40 active cases Thursday, and Brookings County has 342.
