The number of COVID-19 deaths reported in the state surpassed the one-thousand mark Thursday.  The state Department of Health reports 38 virus-related deaths Thursday, including four in our area.  Lake and Kingsbury Counties each report one additional COVID-19 death, and Brookings County reports two.  The total number of deaths in the state is now 1033.

Statewide, the number of new positive COVID-19 cases increased by 1145. More than 15-thousand cases are active at this time, and 538 people are currently hospitalized.

Lake County has nine new positive COVID-19 cases Thursday and four recovered cases.  With 881 total positive cases, 709 recovered, and 11 deaths, Lake County now has 161 active cases.  33 Lake County residents have ever been hospitalized because of the virus. 

Elsewhere in our area, McCook County reports 113 active coronavirus cases, Kingsbury County has 84, and Moody County-82.  Miner county reports 35 active cases, and Brookings County has 410.
