Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Lake County on Monday.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol reports that just before 5:45 Monday afternoon, a 55-year-old Wentworth woman was driving a 2007 Chevy Impala east on Highway 34 and was attempting to turn north onto 462nd Avenue.  The Highway Patrol said the driver, Debbie Waugh of Wentworth, turned in front of a vehicle that was westbound on Highway 34.  That vehicle was a 2012 Ford Focus.

Waugh was transported by ambulance to Madison Regional Health and then transported to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, non life-threatening injuries.  She was wearing a seatbelt and charges are pending against her.

The two occupants of the second vehicle were also taken to Madison Regional Health.  The 30-year-old female driver of the vehicle is reported to have serious, non life-threatening injuries, and the passenger, a 27-year-old female, had minor injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies at the scene included the Lake and Moody County Sheriff’s Offices, Wentworth Fire and Rescue, and Madison Ambulance.
