Tammy Miller receives Lifetime Achievement Award from SD Association of Healthcare Organizations

Tammy Miller, the CEO of the Madison Regional Health System, received the Larry Veitz Lifetime Achievement Award at the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations Annual Convention, held from September 25-27, 2024, at the Monument Event Center in Rapid City, SD. The award honors the legacy of the late Larry Veitz while recognizing an individual for their exemplary service to healthcare.

 

Miller moved to Madison to attend college at Dakota State University, she joined what was then the Madison Community Hospital in her sophomore year, earning the role of Administrative Assistant, a position she held for 16 years. After earning her master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota, she spent a short stint as CEO of the hospital in Dell Rapids but returned to Madison where her career has spanned 4 decades as CEO.

 

Recently she announced that she will be retiring at the end of this year.

 

Miller and her husband Mike have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren. When away from the office she says enjoys spending time with family, and after retirement she and her husband are looking forward to traveling more.

 

Miller expressed her gratitude for the award, saying she is humbled and grateful. She said the fact that it is named for Larry Veitz makes it even more special, as he was a colleague and friend of hers for many years.
