The state is reporting three more deaths from COVID-19 Thursday.  This brings the total number of people in the state who have died from the virus to 87.

Sixty new positive COVID-19 cases have also been reported Thursday, bringing the state’s total to 6479.  Of those, 800 of the cases are active and 79 people are currently hospitalized.

The state Department of Health also announced Thursday the state’s first case of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome.  State Epidemiologist Dr. Joshua Clayton said that the case was identified in someone under the age of 18 in East River South Dakota, but did not provide any further details about the case.

Lake County currently has two active COVID-19 cases and 635 negative tests.  Miner County’s active cases increased to five Thursday, Kingsbury County has three, and McCook and Moody counties each report two active COVID-19 cases.  Brookings County reports 17 active coronavirus cases at this time.
