The number of deaths in the state from COVID-19 increased again Thursday.  Four new deaths from the virus are being reported by the state Department of Health, putting the total number of deaths now at 73.  Thursday’s deaths are reported to be residents of Brown, Union, Pennington, and Minnehaha counties.  

The state also reports an increase of sixty-one new positive COVID-19 cases Thursday, while the number of active cases decreased to 928.  The number of people currently hospitalized also decreased from 101 Wednesday to 87 Thursday.  

Another Lake County resident has recovered from COVID-19, so the county now has two active cases.  Overall Lake County has had 13 positive cases, with ten people now recovered and one death.  There has been 440 negative tests in  Lake County.

Area counties remain relatively the same in their number of active cases.  Kingsbury County has three active COVID-19 cases currently, Moody County has two, and McCook and Miner counties each have one active case at this time.  Brookings County has seven active coronavirus cases as of today.
