State reports 90 positive COVID-19 cases

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in the state increased to 90 over the weekend.  In Sunday’s numbers from the State Department of Health, the positive cases are now being reported in 28 counties in South Dakota.  There have not been any positive COVID-19 cases reported yet in Lake, Miner, Moody, or Kingsbury counties in our area. Some of the higher number of cases are in Minnehaha County, where there are 25 positive cases currently, and in Beadle, where there are now 20 positive cases.

Community spread has been identified by the state Department of Health in Beadle, Deuel, Hughes, Lawrence, Lincoln, Lyman, McCook, Minnehaha, Pennington, and Todd counties.

The state is still reporting only one death so far from COVID-19, and that 29 people have recovered from the virus.

Governor Kristi Noem said that what residents are doing is working so far to help slow down the spread of the coronavirus, but everyone needs to continue.

Noem said that people need to be prepared to continue what they are doing for quite a while yet.
