State Health officials optimistic about COVID-19 vaccine

Health officials are optimistic that the first Covid-19 vaccines may be available as soon as next month.  South Dakota Department of Health Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon says the Pfizer vaccine is first up for federal review.

Malsam-Rysdon says it will be a rapid, but complete evaluation.

Malsam-Rysdon says there will be a priority list for states to receive the vaccine.

At least two other companies plan to submit their vaccines for federal approval as soon as next week.
