State DOH returns to daily COVID-19 website updates

With COVID-19 cases increasing again across the state, the state Department of Health is returning to reporting daily information on its website instead of weekly.

On Thursday, Lake County reported eight active COVID-19 cases and is in the high community spread category.  Three area counties are now reporting substantial community spread – Brookings, Moody, and McCook.  Brookings County currently has 63 active COVID-19 cases, Moody County reports seven, and McCook County has two.  Kingsbury County also has two active cases as of Thursday and is in moderate community spread, while Miner County is the only area county without any active cases and low community spread.

Statewide, there are more than 12-hundred active COVID-19 cases and 76 people hospitalized.  2051 people have died with COVID-19.

Close to 55-percent of the state’s eligible population have completed their COVID-19 vaccination series, while 60-percent have received one vaccine dose.Â
