State continues testing of elder care facilities

The state is continuing it’s COVID-19 virus testing of residents and staff at the state’s nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

State Department of Health Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon said earlier this week that about 19-hundred residents had been tested, as well as more than 27-hundred staff members.

Malsam-Rysdon said the number of positive cases from this testing so far has been low.  State Epidemiologist Dr. Joshua Clayton said Thursday that the results from the testing will be included in the state’s daily updates.

The state Health Department updates it’s covid.sd.gov website with testing information and results just before noon each day.
