An additional six positive COVID-19 cases are reported in Lake County Monday, making a total of thirteen new positive cases in the county reported by the state Department of Health since Thursday.  With a total of 35 positive cases and 20 of them reported as recovered along with one death, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Lake County is now at 14.  According to the state, there have been three Lake County residents ever hospitalized and the county remains in minimal to moderate community spread at this time.  There have been 720 negative tests in Lake County.  

State Epidemiologist Dr. Josh Clayton said in a media briefing Monday that he cannot elaborate or give more information as to the increase in positive cases in Lake County.

Overall in the state Monday, there are 25 new positive COVID-19 cases, for an overall total of 7524.  Of those, there are 872 active cases and 63 people currently hospitalized.  109 South Dakota residents have died from COVID-19.

Monday’s information from the state Department of Health doesn’t show any additional positives in other area counties.  Brookings County remains at 19 active coronavirus cases, McCook County has five, and Moody County has three active cases.  Kingsbury and Miner Counties have two active cases each.
