The state of South Dakota and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are opening several more Disaster Recovery Center in areas included in the most recent presidential disaster declarations.  DRC’s will open in six counties over the next couple of weeks to offer in-person support to individuals and businesses that suffered losses from severe storms and flooding in September. Each of the six new centers will only be open for five days each.

Opening on Tuesday are Disaster Recovery Centers in Brookings, McCook, and Hutchinson counties.  The Brookings County DRC will be located in the Brookings Research and Technology Center; the McCook County one in the Salem Armory; and the Hutchinson County Center will be in the county courthouse in Olivet.  These three Disaster Recovery Centers will be open Tuesday through Saturday, December 14th.

Counties with DRC’s opening next week, on Tuesday, December 17th, include Moody, Hanson, and Charles Mix counties.  The Moody County DRC will be located in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Flandreau. These Centers will be open from December 17th through the 21st. 

Most of the Disaster Recovery Centers will be open between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Individuals can visit any of the centers for assistance.

If possible, homeowners, renters and businesses should register for disaster assistance before visiting a recovery center. There are several ways to register:
