Sheriff’s Chief Deputy recognized for investigative work

Lake County’s Sheriff and Chief Deputy were recognized during Tuesday’s Lake County Commission meeting.

Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust told commissioners that Sheriff Tim Walburg had taken on a new leadership role as President of the South Dakota Sheriff’s Association for 2022.  Walburg has served on the executive board for the Association for the past six years and said that he will be doing more work with the state legislature also this coming year in his new role. 

Walburg then took the opportunity Tuesday to recognize Chief Deputy Sarina Talich for her investigative work with Internet Crimes Against Children and cyber crimes.  He said that Talich received extensive training to work in this area and does an exceptional job with it for the county.

Talich said that her goals have changed throughout her law enforcement career.

During Tuesday’s meeting, Walburg presented a Certificate of Excellence to Talich for achievement and excellence in Internet Crimes Against Children and cyber-related crimes.
