Voter turnout in counties across the state was high in Tuesday’s general election, with many area counties seeing upwards of 70-percent.  Secretary of State Steve Barnett said that around half of the votes were absentee.

Barnett said the credit for the voting process going smoothly overall, goes to election workers.

Many counties will canvass votes yet this week, making their results official. The Secretary of State’s Office will go through votes and make final determinations on winners next week.
