Seasonal Load Limits Start Next Week

Seasonal load limits will go into effect in Lake County on Monday.

Lake County Highway Superintendent Nels Nelson said the restrictions go into effect at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6th due to unusual warm weather conditions.  With the load limits in place, all hard surface and gravel roads in the county are restricted to seven-ton per axle.  

There are some areas with exceptions. Those include:

County Road #51 (446 Ave) from SD Hwy #34 north for 7 miles – restricted to 80,000 pounds gross weight for any vehicle or combination of vehicles, 6-Ton per axle.

County Road #53 (445 Ave) from County Road R22 (226 Street) north for 6 miles – restricted to 80,000 pounds gross weight for any vehicle or combination of vehicles, 6-Ton per axle.

County Road #19 (462 AVE) OFF SD HWY 34 (235 Street) 462 Ave, 461 Ave, & 461A Ave, south on R19 (462 Ave) for 3.64 miles –  restricted to 80,000 pounds gross weight for any vehicle or combination of vehicles, 6-Ton per axle.

County Road #21 (461 Ave) at 461 Ave & 238 Street south on R21 (461 Ave) for 6 miles –  restricted to 80,000 pounds gross weight for any vehicle or combination of vehicles, 6-Ton per axle.

Seasonal road restrictions will remain in effect until lifted by the Lake County Highway Superintendent.
