SD DOH planning for higher COVID-19 case numbers

With positive COVID-19 cases soaring in the state and hospital beds filling up, the South Dakota Department of Health is trying to plan ahead.

State Health Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon says past forecasts haven’t been accurate.

Malsam-Rysdon says hospital use doesn’t directly follow higher positive case numbers.

Malsam-Rysdon says it is critical that people get flu shots to help take pressure off health care providers.

There are now more than 300 people hospitalized in the state because of COVID-19.
