Runnings to build new store in Madison

A new retail store will soon be built in Madison. 

Runnings has announced that the company has purchased nine acres of land from the Lake Area Improvement Corporation and will use that to build a new retail store.  Construction on the new 68-thousand square foot store in the Lakeview Industrial Park is scheduled to begin this fall, with completion set for the summer of 2021.  

Runnings reached an agreement in January to purchase Campbell’s Supply Company, which had seven stores in South Dakota and Iowa. 

Runnings offers a wide assortment of clothing, footwear, pet supplies, housewares, tools, farm and lawn and garden supplies, toys, and outdoor equipment.  

Runnings COO Dan Herrmann said that they are excited to open larger stores in markets where they feel there is a greater need for the selection of everyday necessities that they sell.  

Eric Fosheim, Executive Director of the Lake Area Improvement Corporation, said that Runnings has a strong reputation in supplying a variety of quality products and they are eager to see their new facility take shape.  

The current store, which operates under the Campbell’s name, employs twelve team members.  More employees will be hired at a later date to help run the new store.
