Two incumbent Lake County Commissioners and one new candidate were the top vote-getters in Tuesday’s Lake County Republican Primary election.  In unofficial results from Tuesday, incumbent county commissioner Deb Reinicke was the top vote-getter with 970 votes, followed by Adam Leighton with 928, and then incumbent commissioner Dennis Slaughter with 920 votes.  Incumbent commissioner Roger Hageman received 669 votes in Tuesday’s Republican primary, and Philip Wohlers – 314 votes. Reinicke, Leighton, and Slaughter will now move on to the general election in November, where they will be joined on the ballot by Democratic commission candidate John Doblar.  

Voter turnout for the Lake County Primary election Tuesday was close to 31-and-a-half percent. 
Also in the Republican Primary in Lake County Tuesday, voters chose current U.S. Senator Mike Rounds over challenger Scyller Borglum in the U.S. Senate Republican primary 80-to-20 percent.  Lake County voters also voted for current U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson over challenger Liz Marty May in the U.S. Representative Republican primary 84-to-16-percent.  

In the Democratic Primary, Lake County voters chose presidential candidate Joseph Biden with 79-percent of the vote in Tuesday’s election.  

The Lake County Commission will canvas the results from Tuesday’s election during its next regular meeting on Thursday.
