Regents hear report on universities’ economic impact

The South Dakota Board of Regents hired a consulting firm to do a study of the economic impact of the six state universities.

Nicole Phillips, President of Parker-Phillips Inc., gave the overview to the Regents meeting this past week at SDSU in Brookings.

Kate Parker told the board they toured all six state universities and many towns in between.

She says the universities have an impact far beyond their campuses.

The report also found there are over one-hundred-four thousand graduates of the universities living in the state that will generate over two-hundred-eighty-seven billion dollars over their careers and generate almost two billion dollars in taxes.
