Primary Election voting takes place Tuesday

Tomorrow is Primary Election Day in South Dakota.

While questions of election integrity have been raised nationally, it has not been much of an issue in South Dakota, according to the state’s chief election officer, Secretary of State Steve Barnett.

Barnett said two years ago, a record-high number of South Dakotans were casting absentee ballots because of COVID-19, but that’s not the case this year.

Statewide races on Tuesday’s ballot include Republican primaries for governor, U.S. House and U.S. Senate.   Locally, in Lake County, there is also a Republican primary for Lake County Commission, as well as the District 8 House and Senate races.  Polls are open Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. local time.

More information on Tuesday’s primary election – like polling places and sample ballots – can be found here.
