Positive COVID-19 cases reported in Madison Central Schools

Three additional positive COVID-19 cases were reported in the Madison Central School District over the weekend.  District officials reported Friday that a student or staff member at Madison Elementary School had tested positive for COVID-19, but that there were no close contacts within the school.  They reported another positive case in the elementary school on Sunday, again with no close contacts within the school, as well as a new positive COVID-19 case at Madison High School.  The district will make contact with any students considered to be close contacts with the high school case. There are currently three active COVID-19 cases in both the Madison Elementary and Madison High Schools.

As of Friday, Lake County had 46 active coronavirus cases.  Statewide there were more than 68-hundred active cases and 234 people hospitalized because of the virus Friday, according to the state Department of Health.
