A couple of people addressed the Lake County Commission Tuesday regarding the proposed Summit Carbon Solutions carbon dioxide pipeline.
Trey Lester with TurnKey Logistics, representing Summit Carbon Solutions, updated county commissioners on the progress of land acquisition for the project. Speaking during the commission’s Community Comments portion of its meeting, Lester said that in Lake County, they have acquired close to 87-percent of their easement miles as of Monday. He said that statewide, they have acquired more than 56-percent of their easement miles.
Aaron Johnson, Lake County resident and former commissioner, said that he and others who have been expressing their concerns about the proposed pipeline are looking for feedback from the commission.
Johnson has consistently been presenting information and concerns to commissioners during the Community Comments portion of meetings. He said he is just asking that commissioners address his and other residents’ concerns regarding the proposed pipeline.
The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission this month set a hearing on the proposed pipeline for September.
