Three people have taken out nominating petitions for the Madison City Commission election.  City Finance Officer Jennifer Eimers said that incumbent commissioner Kelly Johnson, along with Patrick Mullen and Jerae Wire all took out petitions on Friday.

Friday was the first day that anyone interested in seeking a seat on the Madison City Commission or Madison Central School Board could start circulating nominating petitions.  There are two seats open on both the Madison City Commission and the Madison Central School Board this year. City commissioners Johnson and Jeremiah Corbin’s terms are up for election, as well as School Board members Shawn Miller and Robert Honomichl.

City commissioners and School Board members each serve three-year terms.

Nominating petitions for the City Commission need to be submitted to the City Finance Office, and those filed for the School Board need to be submitted to the Madison Central Business Office.  The deadline for petitions to be filed for these offices is February 28th. A joint city and school board election is scheduled for April 14th.
