The state Department of Health did not update the state’s COVID-19 case information on Thursday because of the Thanksgiving holiday.  The department will release information on its website later today regarding data from Thursday and today.  

As of Wednesday, the state reported a total of 76-thousand-142 positive COVID-19 cases in the state, with 15-thousand-312 active cases.  Also as of Wednesday, the state’s total number of deaths had reached 849 and 570 people were hospitalized.

Lake County Wednesday had reported 178 active cases.

The Madison Central School District reported a couple more positive COVID-19 cases in the district on Wednesday.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson reported to parents that a student or staff member at Madison Middle School and also at Madison High School had tested positive for COVID-19.  He said the school is working with the state Department of Health to determine close contacts.  Jorgenson said that parents will be notified by e-mail and phone if their child is considered a close contact of these most recent positive cases.
