New positive COVID-19 case identified within Madison High School

Another positive COVID-19 case has been reported in the Madison Central School District.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson said Monday that a student or staff member at Madison High School had tested positive for COVID-19.  This is the first positive case reported within Madison High School this school year.  Jorgenson said that there were no school close contacts with the case.

Currently, the district reports one active case in each of it’s schools, including the elementary, middle and high school.  

The state Department of Health reports 52 active cases of COVID-19 in Lake County as of Monday.  The county, along with most all of the surrounding counties, remains at a high community spread level.  

Statewide, four additional COVID-19 deaths were reported Monday, bringing the state’s overall total to 2129.  The state reported just less than 76-hundred active coronavirus cases, and 184 people currently hospitalized because of the virus. 

Vaccination levels statewide remain steady at just more than 58-percent of those eligible to receive the vaccine in the state having completed their vaccination series, while 64-percent have received at least one vaccine dose.
