Nelson Discusses EV Charging Stations in South Dakota

As electric vehicles or EV’s become more common on the highways across South Dakota, thoughts turn to charging stations that will help keep the wheels on those EV’s turning.

Chris Nelson, South Dakota Public Utilities Commissioner shares that  business and properties should notify their utility companies about their charging stations.

Nelson says the federal government and the private sector will need to partner in the rollout of EV charging stations.

EV charging stations across the country could put a fragile electric grid in a bad spot–especially during times of peak demand

The South Dakota DOT says there are about 1,400 registered EV’s in the state (only North Dakota and Wyoming have fewer), with 45 public charging stations.  You can find a public charging station in Madison at Prostrollos Auto Mall on South Washington Ave.
