Natural gas customers should prepare for higher bills this winter

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission is warning residents about the possibility of very expensive heating bills this winter.

PUC Chairman Chris Nelson says it’s due to a natural gas shortage.

Nelson says it’s a supply-demand issue that’s at the forefront.

Nelson says the cost of home heating this winter could take quite a jump.

Nelson says details on natural gas pricing, along with tips on energy conservation and energy efficiency programs can be found on the PUC’s website.

For additional tips on conserving energy and information on energy efficiency programs, contact your local utility company or visit the U.S. Department of Energy’s website.
