Mountain Lion Sighting in Madison

There has been a mountain lion sighting in Madison.  According to the City of Madison Police Department Facebook page, the sighting was in the 200 block of NE 1st Street around 11:30 pm last evening. 

 The mountain lion was believed to have been spotted traveling north. All residents are encouraged to keep their pets indoors and to be aware if you are planning on going for a walk or jog.

The South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks was notified of the sighting. Another sighting occurred earlier last evening about 4 miles south of Madison. At this time, it is believed the mountain lion is likely just traveling through the area.
