More positive COVID-19 cases reported at Madison Elementary School

Four more students or staff members at the Madison Elementary School have tested positive for COVID-19.  Madison Central Superintendent Joel Jorgenson reported Tuesday that the four new cases put the number of active cases at the elementary school at seven.  The elementary building remains at a Level One status.  The threshold for the building to move to Level Two and require face coverings is eight active cases, or one-and-a-half-percent.  Of the four new positive cases reported Tuesday at the elementary school, one of them involves close contact tracing and three of them have no school close contacts.  They also involve two members of the same household.

As of Tuesday, there was one active COVID-19 case at Madison Middle School and two active cases at the high school.

In Lake County Tuesday, the state Department of Health reported 65 active coronavirus cases.

Statewide, the number of active cases decreased to close to 68-hundred, with 243 people hospitalized.  There have been 2334 COVID-19 deaths in the state since the start of the pandemic.
