Moody County Sheriff attending State of the Union address

Moody County’s Sheriff will be one of Congressman Dusty Johnson’s guests at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address in Washington, D.C..  Sheriff Troy Wellman and Pennington County Sheriff Brian Mueller will both be attending the President’s address tonight (Tuesday).

Johnson said that throughout his conversations with both Sheriff Wellman and Sheriff Mueller, he said that they’ve said the number one thing Congress can do to make their communities safer is to secure the southern border.  He said he hopes that President Biden highlights a plan to combat fentanyl during his State of the Union address.

Sheriff Wellman said that he is “honored and humbled” to be asked by Representative Johnson to be his guest at the State of the Union.  He said that he’s hoping there’s conversation and an explained plan on how to secure the border.  Wellman said “it is not a political issue; it is one-hundred-percent a national health and safety issue” and it needs to be fixed.
