Montgomery’s is expanding to Aberdeen.  Montgomery’s announced Wednesday the purchase of Malchows Home Furnishings in Aberdeen and the building of a fourth Montgomery’s location in Aberdeen later this year.

Mark Malchow said that the discussion of joining Montgomery’s started after a devastating fire that burned Malchows to the ground in October of 2019.

Malchow said that Clark and Eric Sinclair of Montgomery’s shared their business philosophies on how to take care of customers and employees, and what it means to be a long-time family- owned business in this state. Eric Sinclair said he looks forward to the expansion.

Mark Malchow’s role as managing partner with Montgomery’s will begin in 2021. The new Montgomery’s showroom will be built in the former Office Max location on Highway 12 between Target and Walmart and will be more than double in size. An estimated seven to ten new employees will be hired as construction nears completion later this year. Montgomery’s will offer a wide variety of quality, fashion-forward name brand home furnishings, flooring, lighting, window treatments, and mattresses in addition to complimentary interior design service. All prior Malchows sales will be serviced at the new store.

A large-scale retirement sale for Tom Malchow will begin in mid-August on site at the former Office Max location in Aberdeen. Mark and Tom Malchow and the Malchows team will run the sale out of that location through the fall prior to completion of construction and opening of the new Montgomery’s store.
