Miss America visits DSU
Miss America made a visit to Madison and Dakota State University on Friday. Camille Schrier spoke in the Beacom Institute of Technology on the DSU campus and had Madison Middle School students watch her presentation via livestream video. Schrier’s message to the students was aimed at inspiring them to consider studying for a career in STEM, or science, technology, engineering, and math.
Schrier, who is a pharmacy doctoral student at Virginia Commonwealth University, conducted a science experiment as part of her presentation on Friday. She said she was the first contestant in the Miss America pageant to conduct a science experiment as part of the competition’s talent component.
Schrier answered questions from the Madison Middle School students after her experiment. She also spent time signing autographs at the Madison Dairy Queen on Friday afternoon.
