The Miner County Commission approved a resolution on Friday providing for the renovation of the Miner County Courthouse building.  Miner County commissioners held a special meeting Friday to discuss a Courthouse Facilities study that had been completed by Puetz Design Build.  The study provided a list of improvements to be completed including things like the electrical system, windows, exterior drainage, roof, ADA accessibility, elevator addition and more.  The study gave a probable cost estimate for renovation of close to three-point-six-million dollars, with an error factor of 15-percent.

Members of the public addressed the board with their questions and opinions on the courthouse project.  Some spoke in favor of the renovation stating that it is a source of pride for Miner County, while some others expressed concern about spending the estimated costs to renovate an old building.

Miner County commissioners voted 3-to-2 on the resolution for the renovation of the courthouse building.  Commissioners Alex Protsch, Garrett Gassman, and Tom Reisch voted in favor of the resolution, while Commissioners Roger Wentland and Voni Durant voted against it. Â
