Midwest Honor Flight receives donation from Lake County residents

More than two veterans’ seats on Midwest Honor Flight will be paid for by a donation from Lake County residents.  Lake County recently held a free will chili feed in the county courthouse with all donations going to Midwest Honor Flight.  Veterans Service Officer Courtney VanZanten said Tuesday that the chili feed raised $1715.40.  

Midwest Honor Flight Guardian Coordinator Abby Bartosh was presented the donation during the county commission’s meeting on Tuesday and expressed her appreciation.

VanZanten said the goal of the chili feed was to raise 733-dollars, which is the cost of sending one veteran to Washington, D.C. to see the veterans’ memorials as part of Midwest Honor Flight, so the generosity of Lake County residents far exceeded her goal.
