MHS Class of 1991 makes donation in memory of classmate

A class of Madison High School alumni has made a special donation to the Madison Central School Educational Foundation.  The MHS Class of 1991 donated recently in memory of classmate Staci Klein.  Klein was a teacher in Brookings and fought a courageous battle with cancer that ended last year. With the one-thousand dollar donation, the Foundation was able to purchase various novels for the Madison High School English classes. The novels include seventy-five titled “Of Mice & Men,” five novels titled “The Namesake” and five titled “The Nickel Boys.” Stickers were placed in the books by the Foundation to signify the books were purchased in honor of Klein.

MHS English teacher Dana Gonyo said that the department is grateful for the new novels and hope that they can be used in a way that honors Klein’s memory and her passion for education.

The Madison Central School Educational Foundation encourages memorial gifts like these to further promote, enhance, and enable educational opportunities and school improvement activities in the Madison Central School District.
