Meyer to be honored at AAUW Founders Day

A Madison woman is being honored for her volunteer work.

Casualene Meyer is the recipient of the 2021 Founders Award from the Madison Chapter of the American Association of University Women.  Meyer was to receive the award in 2020, but the presentation was delayed due to the pandemic.  At that time, Meyer was an instructor at Dakota State University in Madison.  She is now an English as a Second Language/Foreign Language instructor in the Madison Central School District.

Dr. Jack Walters, a professor of management at DSU, nominated Meyer for the award because of her extensive volunteer work in the community.

Meyer has volunteered with several organizations on campus and in the community.  She founded the Friends of the Madison Public Library group to help provide volunteers, educational and cultural programs, and material support for the library, as well as encouraging in-kind donations from the community.

Meyer will receive the Founders Award from the Madison Chapter of the AAUW  Tuesday evening at 7:00 at Nicky’s Restaurant in Madison.  The event, which will feature Nancy Hallenbeck as the keynote speaker, is open to the public.  Hallenbeck is President of the League of Women Voters of Sioux Falls and the Treasurer of the League of Women Voters of South Dakota.Â
