A short vigil was held Friday evening in Madison for George Floyd, the Minneapolis man who died last month after a police officer there kneeled on his neck during his arrest.

Madison Area Stands Together (or MAST) held the vigil at the Dakota State University football practice field as a way to remember Floyd and call attention to the immense pain and anger those in the black community are feeling.

The vigil included a few speakers, a moment of silence, and time for prayer and reflection.  Those attending were also encouraged to sign a card that was to be sent to the Floyd family along with a personally created portrait.
