One person died Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash west of Howard.   

Names of those involved are not being released pending notification of family members.

The State Department of Public Safety reports that a 2019 Kenworth truck, pulling a grain trailer, was eastbound on Highway 34 near the intersection of Highway 25 just after 9:00 Thursday morning. It was struck by a 2016 Freightliner box truck that was northbound on Highway 25 and failed to stop at the stop sign.

The 35-year-old male driver of the box truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 51-year-old male, was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
