Madison Yard Waste Site to Resume 24/7 Access

The City of Madison has announced that effective today, August 16th, 2024,  the Yard Waste Site will resume its normal 24/7 access.

During the period of reduced hours, the city conducted a thorough assessment of potential improvements and installed additional and better quality surveillance. This enhanced system is a key part of the City’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the integrity of the site, enabling more effective
monitoring both during the day and at night, and allowing for swift action to address any violations.

The City of Madison would like to remind residents of the importance of proper use of the site to preserve its ability to provide this service. The Yard Waste Site is permitted by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) and is intended solely for the disposal of branches, garden waste, grass clippings,
leaves, pumpkins, and sticks by City of Madison residents. Unauthorized use, including inappropriate items or commercial dumping, could jeopardize the City’s permit and potentially lead to the site’s closure.

The City of Madison appreciates the continued cooperation encourages residents to  report any suspicious activities to the Madison Police Department at (605) 256-7506 or the Public Works Department at (605) 256-7515.
