A 17-year-old was injured in an accident involving a motorcycle and a tractor on Wednesday afternoon in Lake County.  The accident happened just before 2:45 Wednesday afternoon four miles northeast of Madison, near the intersection of 457th Avenue and 231st Street.  The state Highway Patrol reports that a 17-year-old Madison boy was driving a John Deere tractor and manure spreader south on 457th Avenue. Another 17-year-old Madison boy, who was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound as well, tried to pass the tractor.   The Highway Patrol says at that time, the tractor driver was making a left hand turn onto 231st Street, and the motorcycle made contact with the back of the tractor where it connects with the trailer.

The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet and was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the tractor was not injured.

Charges are pending in the accident as the Highway Patrol continues its investigation.   Â
