The Madison Public Library needs to decline a technology grant that had been available to them through CARES Act funding.  Library Director Nancy Saabe told Madison City Commissioners Monday that the library has to deny the grant because it does not meet some of the latest requirements for it.

Saabe had planned to use the grant money to purchase internet hot spots that could be loaned out to library patrons who needed them for school work or other activities.  She told commissioners that the library may have another option to still be able to purchase the technology through money given to the library by John Maloney.

Saabe said she will discuss the possibility of using the donated money for internet hot spots with the Library Board. Â
