A Madison man’s artwork was included recently in the South Dakota Healthcare Association’s Dakota MasterWorks Art Show in Sioux Falls.  The show featured art created by artists ages 60 and older who are South Dakota residents. This year’s show included more than 130 artistic entries.

Bernie Schuurmans of Madison received third place in the wood carving category in the “experienced” division, or those between the ages of 60 and 79.  His wood carving was entitled “Cypress Knee Spirit”.

Professional judges awarded prizes for First, Second, and Third place in each of seven categories and two age groups, as well as Honorable Mentions and Best of Show winners.

First, Second, Third, Best of Show and People’s Choice award winners will be on exhibit at the Ramkota Hotel in Pierre during the South Dakota Healthcare Association’s Legislative Reception in January.
