Madison man sentenced on felony charges

A Madison man was sentenced last week on several felony charges.  23-year-old Robert Erks was sentenced on two drug-related charges and one Failure to Appear charge in Lake County Circuit Court.  Circuit Judge Pat Pardy sentenced Erks on a felony charge of Possession of drugs or controlled substances in jail.  On that charge, Erks was sentenced to serve four years in the state penitentiary, which was suspended based on several conditions.  Some of those conditions included that he be on probation for four years, pay a fine, court costs and restitution totaling close to thirteen-hundred dollars, as well as his court-appointed attorney’s fees.

For pleading guilty to Unauthorized Ingestion of a Controlled Drug or Substance, Judge Pardy sentenced Erks to serve four years in the state penitentiary, which was also suspended based on similar conditions.  The judge ordered that these two sentences be served concurrently, but that they be served consecutive to the sentence he received on a felony Failure to Appear charge.  On that, Judge Pardy sentenced Erks to serve two years in the state penitentiary, which was suspended on the conditions that he be on probation for four years, pay costs of just more than one-hundred dollars, and that he serve 97 days in the state penitentiary, with credit for 37 days he’s already served.
