Madison man sentenced for assaulting law enforcement officer

A Madison man was sentenced Tuesday for assaulting a law enforcement officer.  

34-year-old Eric Brandon was sentenced in Lake County Circuit Court on a felony charge of Simple Assault against a law enforcement officer and for being a habitual offender.  The charge stems from an incident in June of this year. 

Circuit Judge Pat Pardy sentenced Brandon to serve four years in the state penitentiary.  The judge suspended eighteen months of the sentence based on several conditions, some of which include that he pay restitution and costs, including his court-appointed attorney’s fees.  Judge Pardy waived any fines as part of Brandon’s sentence, and gave him credit for 52 days he had already served on the charge.
