Madison firefighters respond to calls

Madison firefighters responded to a grass fire southwest of Winfred on Sunday evening at around 6:30.  Fire Chief Randy Minnaert said that somebody had been burning a pile of debris at a residence near the intersection of 235th Street and 443rd Avenue when it started to get away from them.  He said there wasn’t any damage from the fire and firefighters were on scene for around 45 minutes.

Madison firefighters had also responded to a structure fire in the early morning hours of May 13th.  Minnaert said that just after 1:00 that morning, firefighters responded to a report of a garage on fire south of Madison on 240th Street.  He said the garage and the vehicle inside it were destroyed in the fire.  Firefighters from Chester, Wentworth, and Ramona also responded to the fire, and firefighters were on scene for just over an hour-and-a-half.  Minnaert said that the two residents who lived in the home were also taken in for smoke inhalation.  He said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
