Madison firefighters planning Splash Zones this summer

Madison firefighters are planning to offer some water activities for children this summer.  Madison firefighter Dan Buresh met with Madison City Commissioners Tuesday to discuss their plan to create splash zones for kids while the Madison Aquatic Center isn’t operational.

Buresh said that tentatively the first locations will be at Baughman Park on June 8th and the Aquatic Center Park on June 10th.  He said there will be a few different activities for kids during the two hours that they are there.

Buresh told commissioners that he has been talking with different groups and departments and getting things in place for the splash zones.  He said the cost should be pretty minimal since they are utilizing a lot of things they already have.

Commissioners on Tuesday approved Buresh’s plan and asked him to come back and meet with them again in a few weeks to update them on how everything is working.

Buresh said he will set up a Facebook page for people to find more information and also to volunteer if they are willing to do so.  The first Madison Splash Zone is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 8th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Baughman Park.
