Madison Energy Alert

The City of Madison has declared an energy alert for the next couple of days of hot weather in our area.  The alert begins today and lasts through Wednesday night.  During this time, city electric consumers, both residential and business,  are encouraged to voluntarily conserve or limit energy usage, which will assist in controlling the peak demand on the power system.

City officials ask that people turn off any extra lights, and delay the use of any major appliances like dryers, washers, and dishwashers.  If it is necessary to do laundry or run the dishwasher, the city asks that people do so early in the morning or late in the evening.

Another thing that city officials suggest is for residents to pre-cool their homes by lowering their thermostat in the morning in advance of the extreme heat that is predicted.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive  Heat Warning  for the area through Wednesday night at 10pm
