The Madison City Commission holds its regular weekly meeting later today.

The commission will acknowledge a letter from the South Dakota Department of Legislative Audit regarding the city’s 2018 Audit Report.  The commission will also hold a public hearing on a petition from Dakota State University for the vacation of a portion of Northeast 8th Street, and adopt a resolution regarding the street vacation.  Along with that, commissioners will authorize the Mayor to sign a permanent easement with the state for the vacated portion of the street, and also sign an agreement with DSU for permanent easement agreement rights, responsibilities and obligations for the vacated portion of Northeast 8th Street.

Commissioners will adopt a resolution appointing an applicant agent for the hazard mitigation grant program, and adopt personnel policy for city property.

The commission is also scheduled to review and award the bid for the city’s sidewalk improvement project for 2020, and for water meters.

An executive session is scheduled for the end of today’s commission meeting.  The executive session will be held to consult with legal counsel about proposed or pending litigation or contractual matters, and also to prepare for contract negotiations.
