Madison City Commission Approves Sale of T-Ball Field for Early Learning Center Construction

The Madison City Commission took action on a number of items Monday relating to the future construction of the Madison Early Learning Center. In one resolution the city vacated the alley on the property that is currently a T-ball field on Hyland Ave. There is not currently a functioning alley on the field, but it is part of the property description.

After vacating the alley, the city then approved the sale of the T-ball field to the LAIC. The field was originally built with the help of a grant from the Land, Water, and Conservation Fund. The grant requires the property to be used for recreation purposes in perpetuity. City Administrator Jameson Berreth explained how the city will proceed with the sale.

Bids for the construction of the Early Learning Center will be opened on September 24th. LAIC Director Brooke Rollag said at the meeting that they hope to begin construction by this fall.
