The Madison Central School District is reporting its first confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in the school.  Superintendent Joel Jorgenson said that the school district was notified by the state Department of Health Thursday morning of the positive case, which is a student in 7th grade at Madison Middle School.

Jorgenson said the school is working with the state Department of Health to determine if there are any additional students who would be considered close contacts.  He said the school district is providing any information the state needs, including seating charts.  Jorgenson said that if the state Department of Health believes any other children might be considered a possible close contact, the school district will notify the parents by e-mail and follow up with a phone call.

Jorgenson said the state Health Department will make all determinations of any students who are identified as close contacts and will also be contacting parents directly.  He said that the definition of close contact is to be within six feet of a person for fifteen minutes.
